These Terms and Conditions govern your use of Quelight.com and any related pages, content, services, features, applications and transactions made available through the Quelight platform (the "Platform"). By accessing or using Quelight, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.
Your agreement. By ticking the acceptance box during sign-up, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms, and that you have read and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. Ticking the box constitutes your electronic signature and creates a legally binding agreement between you and Quelight LTD.

2. The Platform
Quelight is an online platform focused on theatre and related creative work, designed to document, preserve and promote productions across their lifecycle. The Platform allows users to:
- browse and view show pages, venue pages and related media content;
- create creative profiles and showcase their work, using the Platform as a living online portfolio;
- upload or submit videos, images, biographies, credits and other materials;
- list shows under categories including Development, Archive and Pro Shot;
- make voluntary direct support contributions ("Donations") to shows or creative projects;
- purchase personal lifetime streaming access to selected video content on a pay-per-view basis;
- subscribe to Quelight Pro, an optional paid subscription with enhanced profile features;
- submit and display reviews, including through embeddable review widgets;
- claim and verify professional profiles;
- act simultaneously as a viewer, creator and reviewer, and these roles may overlap and are all governed by this single document.
Quelight provides a platform and promotional service. Unless expressly stated otherwise, we are not the producer, employer, casting director, rights-holder, distributor, venue operator, or sponsor of any show or creative work featured on the Platform.
3. Eligibility and Age Requirements
3.1 General use
You may create an account only if you are at least 16 years old and legally able to agree to these Terms. If you are 16 or 17, you confirm that a parent or guardian knows you are using the Platform. Anyone may browse the Platform without an account.
3.2 Public image uploads
You must be at least 16 years old to upload your own image, photograph, or likeness publicly to the Platform. Quelight does not require identity or age verification documents at the point of upload and cannot guarantee enforcement at the upload stage. However, if we are made aware that an image of a person under 16 has been uploaded without appropriate parental or guardian consent, we will remove that content promptly upon being notified.
3.3 Content involving under-18s
If you upload, submit, manage or publish content involving any person under 18, you confirm that you have obtained all necessary permissions, consents and lawful authorisations from the relevant parent or guardian.
4. Accounts and Profiles
You may need to create an account to access certain features of the Platform. You agree to:
- provide accurate, current and complete information at registration and at all times thereafter;
- keep your login credentials secure and confidential;
- update your information promptly if it changes;
- ensure that your profile content, credits and show listings are not false, misleading or deceptive;
- use the Platform only for lawful purposes and in compliance with these Terms.
You must not impersonate another person or organisation, misrepresent your affiliation with a production, venue, rights-holder or industry body, or falsely claim authorship, credits, approval or participation in any show or project. You are responsible for all activity carried out through your account unless caused directly by our breach.
5. Profile Claiming and Verification
5.1 Unclaimed profiles
To provide a complete record of productions, the Platform may display profile pages for creative practitioners compiled from publicly available production information, such as programmes, credits and show listings ("Unclaimed Profiles"). An Unclaimed Profile does not indicate that the person named has an account, endorses Quelight, or has approved the content shown. If you are the subject of an Unclaimed Profile, you may claim it, request corrections, or request its removal by contacting quelight.info@gmail.com or using the in-platform claiming process.
5.2 Claiming a profile
To claim a profile you must complete our identity verification process. You may be offered a choice between (a) an automated, AI-assisted verification check, which may approve your claim immediately, and (b) manual review by a Quelight administrator. Where your claim is rejected by the automated check, you may appeal and request manual review. Where a claim is pending manual review, we may allow you to edit the profile on a provisional basis; any provisional edits may be reversed if verification is unsuccessful.
6. Creator Content, filmed content and ownership
Quelight is a platform to lift artists up, not to take credit for work that is not ours. Your show and everything about it stay yours.
6.1 Three kinds of video on the Platform
Video on the Platform comes from one of three places, and who owns it depends on which.
(a) Content you upload. Video, images, text, biographies, show information, graphics, audio and other material that you upload or make available yourself ("User Content"). You keep full ownership of it. Quelight does not take ownership of your User Content.
(b) Content Quelight filmed. Recordings that Quelight made of your production under a Filming and Footage Release Agreement with you ("Quelight Footage"). Under that agreement Quelight owns the intellectual property in the recording itself, and nothing more. The show, the script, the performances and everything else about your production stay yours, and Quelight does not claim to own them. You hold a permanent licence to use the finished film for your own purposes. The release agreement, not these Terms, governs Quelight Footage; where the two differ, the release agreement applies to it.
(c) Content a freelancer filmed. Recordings made by a verified freelancer filming on their own account under a Freelancer Filming Agreement with Quelight ("Freelancer Footage"). The freelancer owns the copyright, has declared the production's written permission to Quelight, and has licensed the recording to Quelight to host and distribute. The production's share of any paid viewing is recorded in that declaration.
6.2 Your licence to Quelight for User Content
By uploading or making User Content available, you grant Quelight a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty free licence to host, store, reproduce, technically adapt, display, stream, distribute within the Platform, promote and otherwise use that User Content as necessary to operate, improve, market and provide the Platform and its services. You may revoke this licence for a piece of User Content by deleting it or asking us to take it down, and we will remove it from public view within seven days. Revoking it does not affect purchases already made (see section 13.3). Once a piece of User Content comes down, we make and post nothing new from it. Promotional posts already published stay up unless you ask us to take those down too, and then we will.
6.3 Taking a film down
Whoever holds the rights in a video (you for User Content, you under the release agreement for Quelight Footage, the freelancer for Freelancer Footage) may ask for it to be removed from public view at any time, and we will do it within seven days. A production may also ask us to take down Freelancer Footage of its show, and we will suspend it from public view while we check the declaration.
6.4 How long we keep things
A finished film that is on the Platform stays hosted free of charge for as long as the Platform operates, with no time limit, unless the rights holder asks for it to come down. Raw footage held by Quelight is governed by Quelight's storage service description. If Quelight ever stops operating, rights holders will be given at least 60 days notice and a way to download their films.
6.5 Moderation
Quelight may use automated tools, including AI assisted tools, to help check that content complies with these Terms. A person makes any decision to remove content.
7. Account and Profile Deletion
7.1 Your right to delete
You may request deletion of your account and public profile at any time by contacting quelight.info@gmail.com or using any in-platform account deletion feature. Upon deletion, your public-facing profile page will be removed from all public-facing pages of the Platform.
7.2 Inactive accounts
Quelight does not currently operate an automatic closure policy for inactive accounts. However, where an account has shown no activity for a period of 3 (three) years or more, Quelight reserves the right to close that account after providing reasonable notice to the registered email address where possible.
8. Rights and Permissions Warranties
By uploading, publishing, streaming, selling or making any content available on the Platform, you represent and warrant that you own the content, or have all necessary rights, licences, permissions and consents to use it on the Platform, and that the content does not infringe any copyright, trade mark, privacy, publicity, moral rights, database rights, performer rights, or any other rights of any third party.
8.2 Freelancer Footage
A freelancer who makes a recording of someone else's production available on the Platform warrants, in addition, that the production has agreed in writing to the recording being on the Platform on the terms declared to Quelight, that the production receives the share declared, and that the performers in it have given their consent. Quelight may check the declaration with the production and will not open paid viewing on Freelancer Footage until it has.
9. Prohibited Content
The following categories of content are expressly prohibited on the Platform: adult or sexually explicit content; political campaign material; bootlegs and unauthorised recordings; defamatory, abusive, threatening, hateful or discriminatory content; content that exploits, endangers or sexualises minors; misleading fundraising content; content uploaded without the consent of any identifiable individual featured in it; and spam, malware, fraudulent listings, or automated manipulation of Platform activity.
10. Show Categories, Listings and Pricing
Shows may be listed under categories such as Development, Archive and Pro Shot. These are descriptive platform labels supplied by users or Quelight. They do not constitute legal advice, rights clearance confirmation, production verification, financing verification, or any guarantee regarding the history, stage, quality, ownership, availability or commercial status of any show.
11. Reviews and Review Widgets
Users may submit reviews of shows and productions. Reviews must be honest, in the user's own words, and must not include defamatory, abusive or misleading content. Quelight may remove reviews at its reasonable discretion.
12. Direct Support Contributions ("Donations")
12.1 What a Donation is
Quelight allows users to make voluntary direct support contributions to shows, productions or creative projects ("Donations"). A Donation is a direct financial contribution to the artist or creator, after deduction of the Quelight platform fee. Every Donation goes in full to the show you are supporting. Quelight takes no share of it. The card processing fee is shown to you at checkout and is added to your Donation, so the show receives the full amount you chose.
12.2 No product or service is guaranteed
A Donation does not entitle you to receive any video, digital product, physical product, performance, service or benefit of any kind in return. Donations are voluntary acts of financial support only.
12.3 Non-charitable status
Unless expressly stated otherwise, Donations on Quelight are not charitable donations and may not be tax-deductible.
12.4 Non-refundable
Completed Donations are non-refundable, except where required by applicable law, or where we determine a refund is appropriate in cases of duplicate payment, fraud or technical error.
13. Pay-Per-View and Paid Video Access
13.1 When you purchase access to a video on a pay-per-view basis, you are purchasing a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive right to stream that specific video through the official Quelight Platform for as long as the video remains available on the Platform. Quelight does not put a time limit on that availability: a film stays up unless the rights holder asks for it to come down (section 6.3) or it has to be removed for a legal reason.
13.2 A pay-per-view purchase does not grant you ownership of any video, nor the right to download, copy, screen-record, reproduce, clip, excerpt, share, redistribute, broadcast, publicly screen, sublicense or otherwise exploit the video outside of the official Quelight Platform.
13.3 If a video is withdrawn. If a video you have paid for is removed from the Platform within 24 hours of your purchase, other than because of something you did, we will refund the purchase price to your original payment method within 14 days, and section 16 does not prevent that refund. After 24 hours we will not refund a withdrawn video, but we will tell you in advance where we can.
14. Quelight Pro Subscriptions
14.1 What Quelight Pro is
Quelight Pro is an optional paid subscription that unlocks enhanced profile and creator features, as described on the Pro subscription page. Pro does not change the share of ticket sales or Donations that reaches you.
14.2 Billing and renewal
Quelight Pro is billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, as selected at checkout) via Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. We will notify you in advance of any change to the subscription price.
15. Payments, Payouts and Stripe
15.1 Payment processing
All user payments on the Platform are processed by Stripe or such other payment providers as Quelight may designate.
15.2 How creator payouts work
Quelight receives a consolidated sum covering all Platform payment activity on a monthly basis. Quelight then calculates and processes individual creator payouts based on completed orders and applicable fee deductions for that period.
15.3 Payout notifications
Quelight does not send periodic email reminders about payout balances. Creators will be notified within the Platform when their payout is ready to be processed.
15.4 Minimum payout threshold
Payouts will only be processed once a creator's available balance reaches a minimum of £10 (ten British pounds). Balances below this threshold will be held over to the following payment period until the minimum is met.
15.5 Unclaimed balances
If a creator deletes their account, or if Quelight closes an account due to inactivity, before a payout has been processed, any remaining balance, including balances that have not yet reached the £10 minimum threshold, will be forfeited to Quelight.
15.6 Bank account and payment details
Creators are responsible for ensuring that all payout details are accurate and up to date.
16. Refunds and your right to cancel
16.1 Your 14 day right to cancel
If you buy as a consumer, the law usually gives you 14 days to cancel an online purchase. A video you pay for is available to watch straight away, so at checkout we ask whether you want access to start now. If you tick the box to start now, you agree that access begins immediately and you acknowledge that this ends your right to cancel that purchase. We confirm your choice in the purchase confirmation email. We will not unlock a video until you have ticked the box.
16.2 Quelight Pro
You can cancel a new Pro subscription within 14 days of starting it and we will refund you in full. After that, you can cancel at any time from your account settings and your Pro features continue until the end of the period you have paid for.
16.3 Donations
A Donation is a gift to the show, not a purchase, so it is not refundable, except where it was a duplicate payment, the result of fraud or a technical error.
16.4 Everything else
Except as set out above and in section 13.3, purchases and platform fees are non-refundable. Nothing in these Terms takes away rights you have by law that cannot be excluded, including your rights if a video you paid for is faulty or will not play: tell us and we will put it right or refund you.
17. Advertising and third-party services
Quelight may show advertising and uses analytics, in both cases only with your consent where the law requires it (see our Cookie Policy). The Platform is built and run with the help of third-party services, which may process your data as set out in our Privacy Policy: Lovable Cloud and Supabase (hosting and database), Mux (video), Stripe (payments), Google Analytics and Google AdSense (analytics and advertising), YouTube and Vimeo (embedded video), Notion, Gmail and Zapier (running the business), and Anthropic's Claude (AI tools used in building and running the Platform).
18. Reporting content, complaints and appeals
18.1 Reporting
Every show page, profile and in-app message has a Report link. Use it to tell us about content you think is illegal, breaks these Terms, uses your image without consent or infringes your rights. You can also email quelight.info@gmail.com with the address of the page and what is wrong. You do not need an account to report.
18.2 What happens next
A person at Quelight reads every report. We acknowledge it, act quickly on anything that appears illegal, and take content down or suspend an account where these Terms or the law require it. We tell you what we decided.
18.3 Appeals
If your content was removed or your account was restricted, or you reported something and disagree with what we decided, reply to our decision email within 14 days explaining why. Where we can, a different person from the one who made the first decision reviews it, and we tell you the outcome.
18.4 Rights holders
If you believe content infringes your copyright or other rights, include your name and contact details, the page address, what you own and why the content infringes it. We may share your notice with the person who uploaded the content so they can respond.
19. Acceptable Use
You must not use the Platform to upload prohibited content; harass, threaten, impersonate or exploit other users; scrape, crawl, copy, reverse engineer, disrupt or interfere with the Platform; introduce malware; circumvent payment systems or content restrictions; screen-record, download, redistribute or restream paid video content; manipulate views or Platform activity; or make false credits, casting claims or production affiliations.
20. Platform Availability and Changes
We do not guarantee that the Platform, or any content on it, will be available at all times, or that it will be uninterrupted, secure, accurate, complete or error-free. We may modify, suspend, withdraw or discontinue any part of the Platform at any time.
21. Intellectual Property in the Platform
All intellectual property rights in the Platform itself, including its design, branding, logos, software, databases, layout and original content owned by Quelight, are owned by or licensed to Quelight LTD.
22. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Quelight excludes all implied warranties, representations and conditions, except those that cannot lawfully be excluded. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where Quelight is liable to you, our total liability shall be limited to the greater of the total amount you paid to us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or GBP 100.
23. Indemnity
Where you upload content, manage listings, receive payments, or use the Platform in breach of these Terms, you agree to indemnify Quelight LTD against all reasonable losses, claims, damages, costs and expenses arising from your User Content, your breach of these Terms, your infringement of any third-party rights, or your misuse of the Platform.
24. Termination
You may stop using the Platform and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access, remove content, or close your account where we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms, created legal risk, caused harm to other users, or misused the Platform.
25. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, unless mandatory law in your country of residence affords you greater protections. The courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms.
26. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time and will post the revised version with a new date. If you have made a purchase or hold a Quelight Pro subscription and a change materially affects you, we will email you at least 14 days before it takes effect. By continuing to use the Platform after a change takes effect, you agree to the revised Terms.
