"It’s clear we are in safe hands from the very beginning of Shamaniac. With just a chair, good sound design and a tonne of charisma, Dede Lovejoy grabs our attention from the start and holds us rapt throughout her remarkable true story of illness and healing."

"A truly unique one woman show that felt fun, gritty and grounded. I laughed, winced, teared up and sat on the edge of my seat wondering what could come next in the life of this intriguing soul. I know Dede is a recognizable performer but I had never seen her work until this show and what a wonderful introduction. This show was shocking, joyous, painful, relatable, inspiring and deeply spiritual. It was magical, riveting and truly felt much shorter than its actual run time. I was fully immersed from the get go. Dede is a remarkable story teller and really pulls you into her story with her wit, confidence and her unique brand of tough charm. You feel as though you’ve witnessed these truly remarkable and earth shattering moments in her life and leave feeling as if you really know her. It also encourages self reflection and inspires one to “attend to the tear” In their own soul. I was truly moved."
"What a tour de force of a one woman show! Her story is deeply compelling. Dede is clearly a masterful actress; you immediately feel safe while diving headfirst into her life. She has such poise and presence! She is equal parts deeply sincere, discerning, wry and hilarious in her delivery of spiritual ideas, and then so deeply embodied you have no choice but to open your mind. Her heart is wide-open, and I started to feel tapped into a quieter and braver place within myself watching her. I started thinking maybe nothing is ever just a coincidence. Also that I could never name so many countries and animals. A must see at this year's fringe!"
"This was an astonishingly intimate and well acted show from television star Dede Lovejoy (i love her from the Wire and Blacklist). The story of how she had visions or these waking dreams from a period of extreme medical and spiritual mystery is inspiring scary and an incredible thing to experience. I didn’t know what to expect other than a play about shamans and new Age healing. Instead it was a tour de force performance of an extraordinary medical mystery that ends up being a whole mystical trip. Hard to describe i guess you should just go see it for yourself!"
