    About This Show

Winner, Best LGBTQIA+ Edinburgh Fringe Award (List). An unexpected call from a library derails a performance planned by newly arrived drag artist Goody Prostate, booked to headline the local reading hour. But as they race against the clock to scramble together a new act in real time, they spiral into a chaotic interrogation of childhood, memory and a long overdue examination of what it means to grow up. The library is open – sit down, be quiet and listen. Because sometimes, reading is what? Fundamentalist. ***** (List, BingeFringe.com, TheatreWeekly.com, AYoungishPerspective.co.uk, WhatsTheShow.com.au, SeeDoEatReview.com).

"! Absolutely stunning show! A real journey through tough emotions brilliantly done and I would highly recommend you come to watch."
    TOM THORNBER
"I love this capital Q-Queer show. The premise and themes are very timely, it has a balance of light and shade, high energy and quiet vulnerable movements. The drag performance parts have tight lip syncing, strong musicality, precise movement, & impressive tricks. The script is full of razor sharp jokes, meditations on the politics of having children, parenting, moral panics, and memories of family life as a child. The costumes and the imagery made through the set, dramaturgy & lighting are stunning and add so much beautiful texture to this solo show. Don’t miss out on this one!"

"Ryan Stewart is brilliant in KINDER. I was surprised that the controversy surrounding drag queen library readings which is an issue that is current where I live in Florida, is so universal. But this piece evolves into something much much deeper and so relatable like childhood trauma, acceptance rejection at times seeming to go completely off the rails, but in a poignant emotional good way. KINDER tackles difficult subjects without losing its humor and brings you full circle. Ryan Stewart, is an exceptionally gifted performer. Highly recommended."
